Day 1! The students have been arriving all day, our fearless leaders have been braving the insanity that is the Miami International Airport in search of snazzy blue shirted teens... we have found all of them! They've checked in, been assigned to teams and now the fun is ready to begin!
After everyone has gotten all settled in it's time for our first FUAGNEM of the trip. FUAGNEM (Fired Up And Going Nuts Every Minute) is what we call our nightly meetings. Our entire group get's together at the end of every day for some amazing worship time, we also hear from different speakers every night.
All the students and leaders gathered as teams for the first time. The students found their leaders/teams by the crazy signs all the LITs made for them.
Tonight Susie spoke about Naaman and washing in the Jordan. She told us that sometimes skipping the process to healing and being renewed in Him will end up in us forfeiting the gifts God has for us. The leaders took turns washing the hands of their team as a symbol of the renewing process God will be taking us through on this trip.
We also got to meet all of our fearless LIT's (leaders in training -college aged leaders)!
After meeting our LITs we all took the Absotootalutely Pledge! -basically reminding the kids of the behavioral agreements they signed months ago ;)
We promised not to pull fire alarms, not to eat bugs, no playing pranks on Susie, respect our leaders, no girls going into guys rooms to iron their Never The Same t-shirts, and no guys going into girls rooms to kill bugs for them, and lastly no dying our hair or getting tattoos on the trip!
oh, FUAGNEM
Once FUAGNEM was over everyone sat down to watch the 22 minute evangelistic drama we will be using to witness to the people of Guatemala for the next two weeks. After seeing the drama for the first time all the teams split up for their first team meetings and plunge right into auditions!
After the students have auditioned, our leaders work hard to place each student in their perfect roll.
Now that everyone is worn out from a day full of traveling, making new friends, worship, being challenged spiritually, meeting their teams, and prancing all about for their drama instructors... it is time for BED!
Good night everybody!
Tomorrow starts two days of crazy drama, language and cultural training!
Thanks for the awesome update! Praise GOD for the hearts being transformed already! Praise GOD for the work He is doing in and through this group! Praise God for the glory He is receiving! Praise God for all of them coming home NEVER the SAME! Love it!
